Are Olympic Athletes Allowed To Use CBD?

Source: http://www.brainhealtheducation.org/are-olympic-athletes-allowed-to-use-cbd/

The answer to the question is a resounding yes. Seemingly in accordance with scientific research and available information about the cannabinoid, the World Anti-Doping Agency updated their banned substance list. They still don’t allow Olympic athletes to use THC during the competition. But cannabidiol? Totally fine. The proof is right there on the updated list for 2o18.

From app store to drug store, digital health is redefining pharma’s pipeline (STAT):

“The pitches always sounded promising: A new software app could track glucose levels for people with diabetes or soothe the brains of insomniacs. Most pharma executives would politely smile and nod, but then park their money somewhere else.

Not anymore.

Backed by a growing body of evidence, software is itself becoming a prescription for diseases ranging from depression to heart disease, and drug companies are starting to take notice. In the past couple years, many have quickly ramped up their investments in digital startups, infusing …

Dying Young and the Psychology of Leaving a Legacy

Source: http://brainblogger.com/2018/03/19/dying-young-and-the-psychology-of-leaving-a-legacy/

Often the biggest existential distress that we carry is the idea that no-one will remember us when we are gone—initially we know that our friends and family will hold who we are, but after a generation, these people are likely gone too. At the end of life, the pressure to leave an unquestionably relevant legacy can be crippling for people, particularly for young people. When coupled with the limited energy that people have when they are unwell, the very nature of what people expect to achieve in the world shrinks, and the really important pieces come into focus.

When time is seen to be limited, every moment can take on a weight that has never before been experienced. Some of these expectations come from within and some externally, but regardless of their origin they can be paralyzing for the young person facing their mortality, particularly when unwell. Culturally, there are multiple references as to what ‘dying young’ is meant to mean and most refer to extraordinary …

A New Kind of Mental Toughness

Source http://mentalitywod.com/a-new-kind-of-mental-toughness/

Mental toughness is what makes champions. That’s what we’ve all been taught anyway.

It seems like everyone believes that “tougher” is better. Leaders and coaches are always preaching about how to develop mental toughness and how people need to “toughen up.”

I think there is a huge misconception out there. If you have the wrong idea about mental toughness, your thoughts and actions towards developing it can actually be harmful.

Mental toughness is often associated with

  • The refusal to give in
  • Pushing through tough situations
  • Psychological or emotional resilience
  • Hardiness
  • Fearlessness
  • Being strong-willed
