A great many ways to slow the progression of atherosclerosis have been demonstrated in mice, and some these have been shown to work in large mammals such as pigs and non-human primates. Slowing atherosclerosis isn’t the hard problem; regressing existing atherosclerotic plaque so as to clear arteries and restore cardiovascular function is the outcome that the research and development community continues to struggle with.
