Shortly after landing the multimillion-dollar NFL account, Brandissimo hired a quiet 29-year-old named Allison Guiliotis. The NFL was a demanding client—before long, she was working 60-hour weeks—but unlike many others, it made its objectives clear. It wanted to “get to kids as early as possible,” Guiliotis says. “They talked about creating lifelong customers.” To that

Beautiful Things Can Happen When We Step Outside Our Comfort Zone

Calm Woman Meditating on Sunset Beach, Relax in Open Arms Pose

“As you move outside of your comfort zone, what was once the unknown and frightening becomes your new normal.” ~Robin S. Sharma

I recently arrived in my new home city of New Orleans. I came here for a change and to refresh my spirits, and I’m so glad I did. It’s truly an uplifting and unique city. Coming here certainly shifted me out of my comfort zone, as I’m originally from California.

However, what I know from past experience is that breaking free of what’s comfortable is an ongoing, step-by-step journey. Simply put, it’s not enough that I’m here. I have to consciously keep embracing this expansion.

When I first arrived here I felt that feeling of love and happiness I get when I travel to places that truly feel special. A warm, humid breeze blew past my face when I stepped out of my car. The house I’ll be staying in had a big blue door, and I’ve found bright colors and old fashioned, French Creole homes are the norm here.

As I was being checked into my house, some neighbors came out to let my landlord know her car was blocking their driveway. They all knew each other, so the exchange was friendly, and it ended with them saying they were having a party that night for an engag…

The Double Progression Method: Elevate Your Strength Training Workout

Source http://www.niashanks.com/double-progression-method/

double progression strength training methodPerformance improvement is a mandatory element of a proper strength training program.

There are many ways to fulfill this requirement (e.g., increase the volume by performing more sets, decrease the rest periods between sets/exercises thereby increasing the density of the workout, etc.) but the two most common ways to improve performance: perform more reps with the same weight, and increase the weight used.

When you combine the latter two ways into a single method to improve performance, you get what’s known as double progression. Gradually perform more reps with the same weight, and then increase the weight used and start the process over.

The double progression strength training method is one of my favorites. It’s simple, and effective as hell for getting stronger and improving your performance. From beginners to advanced trainees, for building maximum strength to building muscle or just performing a well-rounded strength training program — it just works. From barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, and even cable machines and other equipment, the double progression method is an effective training method.

To bring this to life, let’s use an example of a total body strength training workout th…

What’s Your Drunk Personality Type – Nutty, Naughty or Nice?

Source: http://brainblogger.com/2016/11/24/discover-your-drunk-personality-type-nutty-naughty-or-nice/

There are certainly different types of drunks. “Sober Dave is boring, you should hang out with Drunk Dave, he’s wild!” or “She is usually a sweetheart, but watch out, she’s a mean drunk”. Having documented the transition to our drunk alter-egos for 100s of years, we are no strangers to the concept of drunk personality types. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that alcohol can change our personalities from a sober type to a drunk type.

Today, research pioneered by University of Missouri graduate student, Rachel Winograd, supports the existence of at least 4 categories of drunk personalities. Importantly, she reveals if one’s type of drunk personality puts them at greater risk of alcohol-related harms (e.g. regrettable sexual encounters or drunken injuries), as well as alcohol addiction.

187 pairs of undergraduate drinking buddies answered questions linking their drunk personality to the “big five” personality traits (openness, consci…

Relief for Thousands Living with Alzheimer’s Disease

Source: http://blog.alz.org/relief-for-thousands-living-with-alzheimers-disease/

Today, there are an estimated 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease. And while most people associate the disease with old age, the fact is there are 200,000 Americans under the age of 65 living with it today. As with all forms of the disease, early-onset Alzheimer’s is a progressive, terminal disease, which cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed.

Since the onset can occur in people as early as in their 30s and 40s it often strikes during an individual’s prime working years, and as the disease progresses it prevents gainful employment. As a result, individuals are coming to grips with a devastating diagnosis all while losing employment and the salary and benefits that come with being employed. These individuals and their caregivers then must figure out how they will pay for their care.

Thankfully, since 2010 the Social Security Administration (SSA) has helped these individuals by adding Alzheimer’s disease to…
