Fitness Fun + Winter Shape Up Sneak Preview

Source http://www.fannetasticfood.com/fitness-fun-winter-shape-sneak-preview/

Hi guys! It’s been a dreary week over here in DC – what’s with all the rain and clouds?! Oh well – at least it makes yoga even cozier, right? 🙂

epic yoga dc

I kicked off my workweek downtown at my co-working space on Monday and decided to treat myself to a lunchtime yoga class via ClassPass (<- affiliate link for $30 off). It was just what I needed – felt really good to slow down and stretch out!

As for yesterday, Matt and I got in a quick morning run date! I wanted to go to my track workout group but I’m still getting over a cold and wanted to give myself one more day to sleep in a bit and keep things lower key. So instead Matt and I headed out for a couple casual miles around the neighborhood before he left for work. It actually ended up being a nice morning – the sun even came out briefly to join us! We did a really hilly route – didn’t feel easy but it was nice to get some fresh air and the company was excellent, of course. 🙂

Finding my fit with Fitbitch bootcamp

Source http://www.thefitbits.com/2016/09/finding-my-fit-with-fitbitch-bootcamp.html

I’m no stranger to early morning bootcamp – after all, it’s how I started my fitness journey, five years ago. What started as a last-ditch attempt to lose weight (for no real reason other than I just wanted to look thinner), soon turned into a full on love affair with morning workouts.

I loved the group atmosphere, the fact that I didn’t have to think about what I was doing and just do what I was told, and of course, the results. I got fit pretty quickly and started to actually feel good about myself, all the while forgetting the original reason of starting: to look slimmer and achieve that ‘perfect’ body.

Somewhere along the way, fitness became fun, and it didn’t matter what I looked like any more.

9 things to hate about periods

Source http://www.thefitbits.com/2017/01/9-things-to-hate-about-periods.html

OK, let me start by firstly apologising to any male readers, and also any females who might think this is a massive overshare, but I’ve been doing this for 20 years and to be quite frank, the novelty has most definitely worn off.

Periods. Nine reasons to hate them. Feel free to add your own in the comments if I’ve missed any – we’re all girls here. Unless you’re a boy. In which case… I hate you right now.

As soccer has soared in popularity in recent decades, concussion rates for youth players have also surged, a U.S. study suggests. 5 Practices to Help You Live a Happier, More Present Life

Source http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/tinybuddha/~3/9VbImc0x84k/

“There is nothing else than now. There is neither yesterday, certainly, nor is there any tomorrow. How old must you be before you know that?” ~ Ernest Hemingway

It was a Wednesday afternoon, just like any other. I’d spent the last three hours bent over my laptop at a coffee shop, trying to nail down the revisions to a research report that was already three days late.

I’d been distracted all afternoon, checking my e-mail every five minutes for news about a proposal I’d submitted a few weeks earlier. When I’d found nothing to satisfy me in my inbox, I’d stumble over to Facebook, paging through memes about the world’s impending doom that seemed custom designed to me to make me feel as gloomy as possible.

Finally I called it quits and drove home in a funk. I walked into the kitchen, where my wife Lisa was cutting vegetables for dinner. She looked up when I walked in. “How are you doing?” she asked, reading my face.

I thought about that for a moment. I knew I had a happy life. There were a million things to be thankful for: a supportive relationship, fantastic kids, good health, and the fortune to live in a beautiful corner of a free country.

But I didn’t feel a…
