My TEDx talk ‘Indulge Your Neurobiology’

Source: http://yourbrainhealth.com.au/my-tedx-talk-indulge-your-neurobiology/

Here it is: My TEDx Northern Sydney Institute talk ‘Indulge Your Neurobiology‘.

In my talk I share my brain hack to improve memory, spark creativity, and regulate emotions. I discovered this life-changing tool when I left the neuroscience research lab behind and starting focussing on brain health and wellbeing in everyday life.

You won’t need an app, course or guru to learn this technique … simply learn to respect and then indulge your neurobiology!

Once you’ve watched – I’d love for you to do two things:

1. Please SHARE fare and wide (no more napping guilt!!).

2. Leave me a comment, I’d LOVE your thoughts on whether you’ll choose to indulge!

.

Projection – When Narcissists Turn the Blame on You

Source: http://brainblogger.com/2016/10/16/projection-when-narcissists-turn-the-blame-on-you/

Ah, projection. The fine art of making me guilty of your vices.

Projection

No one projects better or more frequently than a narcissist. They’ve practiced, honed and refined projection to a fine art.

Whatever they’re up to, by some mental “abracadabra,” suddenly they’re innocent and you’re actually the one up to no-good.

Deep In The Race

Since Eve ate the “apple” and blamed it on the serpent, projection has been a quintessential part of the human race. Since Adam ate the “apple” and blamed it on Eve, men have been projecting onto their wives. Wives have been projecting onto their husbands. Parents have been projecting onto their children. And siblings have been projecting onto each other.

C’mon, you know you’ve done it. I certainly have. And while projection may be elevated to a high art-form by narcissists, we’ve all done it or been tempted to do it. We’ve all got a little corner …

How to: Scientist to Communicator

Ready to hang up your lab coat and enter the world of science, health and medical communications?

But not really sure what the options are and what steps you should take next?

I’m thrilled to offer my one-to-one ‘Scientist to Communicator’ training days for scientists, academics, PhDs, postdocs or health professionals interested in a career in health, medical or science communications.

As a researcher have you ever thought the following (secretly of course – it’s career suicide to express this stuff out loud…):

  • You love giving talks about your research much more than doing the research, and wonder if it’s possible to make a career out of that passion?

Preparing for a possible future: Advancing research into Alzheimer’s disease

Our National Advisory Council on Aging meeting last month proved to be very exciting. We have received increased public interest, together with additional funding in recent years, to accelerate progress against Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. This has blossomed into numerous concepts for new initiatives that came before the Council to review. Their enormous accomplishment at this meeting was to approve 26 concept proposals for funding opportunities….
