How to Discover and Reach Your Ideal Weight

When I was a dieter I always had a goal weight that I thought would change my life. I’d get on the scale (if I was brave enough) and would hold my breath as I watched the needle move, calculating in my mind how many pounds away I was from happiness.

In retrospect I don’t know what I expected to happen at that magic number. If I had been less delusional I might have acknowledged that the few times I did manage to reach my goal I instantly adjusted it a few pounds downward, the flicker of joy suppressed by the sudden realization that an even smaller pair of jeans may be in my future.

Ugh. Dieting is the worst.

Okay, so what if you’re done with the dieting neurosis but still want to lose weight for health reasons? Is there a target or ideal weight you should shoot for?

I get asked this question a lot, and unfortunately there is no easy answer. There are, however, several frameworks and benchmarks you can use to help guide your efforts.

Emergence

Source http://www.nu-ufitness.com/emergence/

Some of us retract; we retreat to a quiet place. We hide; it is one of the most beautiful and skillful practices of the natural world.
Think about it… the held bud of a summer rose, a hibernating bear, dark before the dawn, snow before spring. Hiding is always looked at as a bad thing, but I believe it is underestimated. Life; we emerge from our mother after hiding for 9 months. That is the time to grow, and ready ourselves for our birth into the light of the world; if we come too early then we are in need of much care by many hands.

If done correctly, hiding is the spirit guide for the assurance that you will emerge whole. At the first start of life, as kids, or even as growing adults… we can recoil from the conditions that have caught us and imprisoned us, many times in ways where we have been too easily compromised and too easily discarded.
We live in a day and age of the scrutinized soul and our immediate disclosure of our thoughts, dreams, and desires exposed too much, too early, and often times our best qualities forced out of us too soon into this world with minds and ideals that oppress our sense of self and our sense of others.

What is REAL and TRUE, if you think about it, always starts as hidden. What is valued inside of us should not be known in ways that diminishes its presence.
Hiding is freedom from the misunderstanding of others, especially with an ever enclosing world view of oppressiveness that tries to name us, anticipate…

Home Gym DIY Pegboard Wall

Source http://www.livelifeactive.com/2016/08/21/home-gym-diy-pegboard-wall/

Recently I broke down and bought myself a new toy.  I bought a treadmill for my house!  For all the days that I can’t make it to the gym, or just feel like watching The Bachelor while walking on the treadmill, I can now do that at home.  Yay!  I also wanted to share this adorable DIY Pegboard Wall I created for my home gym / workout room and it’s so easy that anyone can do it.

I recently purchased a new home and it has 3 bedrooms in it.  My idea was to have a master bedroom, a guest bedroom and a third room being an office.  Well…I started to think and realized that I use a laptop and there’s no need for an actual office as I usually work from my couch or bedroom or wherever the heck I want.  Soo….I decided to turn the extra room into a workout room instead.  Maybe this will force me to workout more often…let’s see if that happens 😉

So here’s a look at how my extra room looked a few days ago…it had become a dumping area with a bunch of extra crap that I don’t know what to do with yet. I needed to make that space have a purpose.

Fuel Up

Source http://nextlevelfitness.com/week-1/

Ok, so it took me a week to get the blog set up.  I made the decision to send out my “wake up” email and start my blog on the spur of the moment (and then informed my website guy after the fact).  Apparently it’s more complicated than pushing a button.  This is why I should stick to training and writing and leave the IT difficulties to the professionals.

Anyway…I’ll start with a recap of the last 10 days and go from there.

Fuel.   It’s the hardest part of the equation.  I find it extremely difficult to make good dietary decisions if I’m flying by the seat of my pants.  In my experience that’s pretty much true across the board for most people.  Maybe not you; maybe you can make good decisions on the spur of the moment when you’re hungry.  Not me, I have to plan in advance.  This week I’ve been eating rotisserie chicken and a wild rice/quinoa mixture for lunch.  Easy. Simple.  To keep it lively I need a little hot sauce.

So….today my challenge for you is to plan out your eating schedule for tomorrow.  If you have a plan, you will make better decisions.
