“It is the marriage of the soul with nature that gives birth to imagination.” ~Henry David Thoreau
Before my accident, before we had kids, after we divorced, after my father died from Covid, before the pandemic…
We tend to divide our lives into the before and afters that define our world, whether personally or on a grand scale. These divisions offer context, providing a kind of roadmap that supports us in reflecting on the beauty and darkness, the decisions we made, and who we might be if certain things had never occurred.
I have always believed that the only reason to look back is to learn. Still, I can’t help but wonder: What if, when my marriage ended, I already had mindfulness skill…

Ah, cheese. Whether you prefer it ooey-gooey or uber-pungent, most folks would agree cheese is delish. But cheese also gets a bad rap as a food people are quick to label “unhealthy.”
Here’s the Gouda news: Cheese is generally considered a whole food that’s good for you in moderation and offers a healthy dose of nutrients.
But cheese nutrition is complicated. Most cheese is high in calories, protein, fat, calcium, and sodium. But the nutrition varies based on type, production, and aging, so the only way to pick the healthiest cheese for you is to read the nutrition facts.
And, like any food, you can eat too much of a good-for-you food (the cheese plate was really asking for it).

It’s a good sign when the first word out of your mouth after a bite is WOW. This salted caramel chocolate ganache tart is almost too good to be true…but you better believe it! It’s decadent, chocolaty, salty-sweet perfection, and it requires just 7 ingredients!
Not only is it insanely delicious, but it’s gluten-free, vegan, and doesn’t require baking!

“It’s not the events of our lives that shape us, but our beliefs as to what those events mean.” ~Tony Robbins
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.
Wow. That one takes me waaay back. All the way to the elementary school playground. A place where I attempted to use it as a shield. As juvenile as this saying is, I would search for comfort in its words for years to come.
In the end, it doesn’t matter how old we get. It’s good to feel a part of something, to be understood, and to be accepted, and it hurts when we feel we’re not good enough to belong.
Whether it’s due to the words of a schoolyard bully (with a flat-chested joke), a passing remark from a stranger (“your arms are hairy”), or an observation by a love…

So, you had breast implants, and now you want them gone — stat. Don’t fret, lots of peeps have been in the same boat as you (Victoria Beckham, Chrissy Teigen, and Ayesha Curry included). Even though breast augmentation is a super common procedure, implant removal is up there too. In 2020, over 36,000 in the U.S. had breast “explants” — that’s about 20 percent of implants done that year.

“Have a little faith in your ability to handle whatever’s coming down the road. Believe that you have the strength and resourcefulness required to tackle whatever challenges come your way. And know that you always have the capacity to make the best of anything. Even if you didn’t want it or ask for it, even if it seems scary or hard or unfair, you can make something good of any loss or hardship. You can learn from it, grow from it, help others through it, and maybe even thrive because of it. The future is unknown, but you can know this for sure: Whatever’s coming, you got this.” ~Lori Deschene

The U.S. might make daylight saving time permanent. Rejoice! But scientists warn that it might actually be a bad idea. Womp, womp.
You know the drill, every year we “spring forward” an hour to observe daylight saving time. Then in the fall we “fall back” an hour.
The time changes are both hated and loved for the additional hours of sunlight and the loss of sleep. And many a millennial has waxed poetic about it ending once and for all.

Design improvements that benefit all will benefit older adults and caregivers. Unlike niche hardware and software for seniors, basic Voice First platforms and software will change rapidly and without disruption for users – accompanied by a ‘What’s New’ weekly email and a few suggestions on new tricks to try – but the changes behind the front-facing features will make the most difference. With the 2018 lens to guide the market today, here are a few ways the user experience and thus the ecosystem should have ratcheted upwards:

Degenerative disc disease is commonplace, and in recent years research has implicated the age-related accumulation of senescent cells in the onset and progression of this condition. Senolytic drugs to clear senescent cells may thus be a useful treatment.
