Why Long-Term Love Feels Boring and Why It’s Actually Not

“It’s not the events of our lives that shape us, but our beliefs as to what those events mean.” ~Tony Robbins

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The sound of my fiancé’s alarm went off at 5:00 in the morning. I had fallen asleep around 2am after scrolling for hours on Instagram and Pinterest.

Frustrated, I rolled into my pillow as he leaned over to give me a kiss on the forehead.

I grimaced.

Why does he always have to kiss me every morning when I’m tired.

Resentment is an odd feeling.

“Here we go again,” I thought to myself, “another boring Monday morning.”

Is this seriously what it’s like to be newly engaged?

What about all those photos of smiling Instagram models holding up their shiny rings to the camera? What about the studly me…

Instead of Fearing Change, Get Excited About Progress

“Progress is impossible without change.” ~Walt Disney

I want you to look in the mirror and tell me what you see.

Do you look older? Does your skin have more wrinkles? Do you notice dark circles around your eyes or white hair on your head?

You are looking at massive changes from a decade ago. A lot of it you probably don’t like—changes due to your body growing older. Changes that you cannot resist.

Now look in the mirror again. Do you notice a more confident person? Someone who is self-assured, optimistic, and happy in life?

It happened to me a few weeks back when I was getting ready for an interview. For my preparation, I was talking to myself in the mirror, and as I paused, I had this moment of mindfulness in which all I noticed was my confidence, optimism, and p…

How to Love Yourself and Break Your Relationship Patterns

Source http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/tinybuddha/~3/RWDVU2JBEDg/

“And still, after all this time, the Sun has never said to the Earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the sky.” ~Rumi

I grew up believing love was conditional. My grandmother, as much as I adored her, was extremely controlling, and unless I met her high standards of behavior and gave her a certain level of attention, she treated me with coldness.

Whenever she disapproved of my behavior, she would tell me, “I love you, but I don’t like you.” As if she had a switch she could turn on and off that stopped or started the flow of love from her heart.

When I was in her good graces, she gave me the world.

After my grandfather passed away, I provided her much support and attention. As such, she became very loving and generous towar…

Healing from Abuse and Reclaiming My Dreams

“Along the way I stopped into a coffee shop. All around me normal, everyday city types were going about their normal, everyday affairs…In spite of which—or, rather, all the more because— here I was, sitting in this coffee shop, drinking my coffee, feeling a desperate loneliness. I alone was the outsider. I had no place here… Here I had no ties to anyone. Fact is, I’d come to reclaim myself.” ~Haruki Murakami

How to Go Vegan

Source https://www.nomeatathlete.com/how-to-go-vegan/

On the surface, it seems obvious: isn’t the answer to “how to go vegan” just to stop eating animal products?

But the truth is it’s not so simple: unfortunately, most people who go vegan will eventually fail.

Not because the diet isn’t healthy or because it doesn’t make them feel great. Not even because it’s too hard to follow (it’s really not).

The majority of people who attempt to eat a plant-based diet give up because they haven’t set themselves up to succeed.

That’s not fun for us to admit, but it’s true.

Fortunately, your experience can be different.

In fact, right now it’s easier to start a plant-based diet than ever before. There’s more support, better meat and dairy alternatives, increased restaurant options, and a lot less pushback from others.

No-Bake Brownie Bites

No-Bake Brownie Bites

We’ve made a number of energy bites on the blog before, but these ones might take the cake. Or the brownie? Either way, these brownie bites are incredibly delicious.

My very first no-bake brownies can be found here, which were inspired by the super talented Sarah at My New Roots.

What you need to know: 7 whole food ingredients, 1 food processor, 15 minutes required; refined sugar-free; tastes like dessert; rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids; your friends and family will be in awe of your majesti…

The Magic of a Fresh Start

Source https://zenhabits.net/anew/

By Leo Babauta

One of the biggest obstacles to sticking with a habit change, a new system, a goal or long-term project … is that we get disrupted.

Something interrupts our progress — we skip a workout day or two — and then some programming in our brains turns that into a message of how we’re not good enough, we can’t do it, we should just give up.

This stops so many people from making long-term progress.

It stops us from simply starting again.

This is because most of us don’t realize the power and magic of a Fresh Start.

A Fresh Start is when we get to start anew, with a blank slate. It’s waking up to a brand new morning, with a day we get to use however we want.

When we miss a few days of meditation, or eat junk for a week because of various celebrations, or fall off from writing our book … instead of making that to mea…
